Knowing Me, Knowing MU

Mu Bags.  Super swell bags & accessories designed and produced by two cool chics right here in Bogota.  I'm well on my way to a dangerous obsession.  They come in a staggering array of colors and all of the interiors are lined in lively contrasting fabrics.  Mwah to Mu.

Warriors! Come out to plaaaayay!

So many TRIBAL influences on the runway this season.  My favorite being, Nicolas Ghesquiere's version for Balenciaga. No matter the season nor the influence he takes what is forward-thinking, fresh and inspiring and creates clothes that are familiar, wearable and forever cool. I am obsessed with the Pierre Hardy boots he commissioned; fashioned after Masai warrior necklaces. Salivating. I am eager to get these looks onto my body. Even if I have to rip up the block print pillows in my living room.

Holy Heaven!

Somethings with which I am endlessly in love. Breakfast in bed. A pretty frock. Paris. And of course, cha cha champagne. Ahhhh...sweet, sweet heaven.

Stella Boots Pt. 1

The inspiration...

Who: Ruth, the boot maker and artist of all things leather
What: Custom made boots to fit like none other
When: First meeting, one week ago. We discussed design and leather color and texture. I will return once more for a fitting and will have my finished boots in about a month.
Where: Somewhere near the embassy, Bogota, Colombia
Why: Because if I had purchased these boots from J.Crew I would have to shell out nearly $600 and the fit would be off. Stella's custom made boots will be less than a third of the cost will finally fit like a proper boot should...perfectly!

A Girl Should Be Two Things...

Classy
And Fabulous. ~ Coco Chanel

I love my classy and fabulous friends.  I also miss them a lot.

Side Note: The word "classy" is kind of ridic.  I can't help but feel silly whenever I use it.  It falls into the same category as, fiance, cheers, intercourse, bandwidth and panties.  The words don't quite make my skin crawl, but certainly make me feel uneasy in use.

"If you ask any lady...

they want to be taller, they want to be slimmer, you know, and they want a waist. I'm not here to make people look like a sack of potatoes.” ~LAM

Brazzaville Here We Come...My New Best Friends

Oh golly! Just found this exquisite book, Gentlemen of Bacongo, by photographer, Daniele Tamgni. A gorgeous expression of artistry, by both Tamgni and his subjects, The Sapeurs. I can't believe we will be living there. I hope you can spare a moment do a bit of reading about these fascinating men of the congo. The Sapeurs today belong to Le SAPE; an acronym for the movement itself, Société des Ambianceurs et Persons Élégants. I'm sure it's no coincidence that the word sape also means “to dress with elegance and style” in French. Members not only remain resolutely faithful to the church of high fashion and it's designers, but have their own code of honor, codes of professional conduct and strict notions of morality. C'est tres cool! Can't get enough.
